MORE PROGRESS

We finally moved on to the girl's room!
They are in and there are just some minor cosmetic things that remain to be finished.
Here are a couple of pictures along the way.

We did not change the flooring in this room.
The carpet is in decent shape and actually upon completion, doesn't look bad with the colors we chose for the room.
Mike did put in new lights and replacement windows and of course, re-painted.

The finished paint job.
I do have some pictures with furniture in the room, but couldn't find them quickly.
That can be another post for another time.

Little by little it is coming along.

HOMESCHOOL FIELD TRIP

Toward the end of October,
a bunch of local homeschool families got together to hit the corn maze and additional activities.

It was a beautiful day and unseasonably warm.
We fed the animals..

Took a hayride around the farm..

Played in the hay maze..

and spent some significant time on the big slide..

and of course, corn maze!

The view from the tower in the center of the maze.

We also enjoyed some apples and picked pumpkins.

A good time was had by all.

COOKS IN THE MAKING

One of the extra-curriculars this Fall, for two of the kids, was cooking class put on by our local recreation department.

It was a month long, once a week.
The kids would go for an hour and a half and prepare different foods to then bring home and eat.
I did not get a picture of everything, but here is a sampling of what Michael brought home.

They definitely enjoyed it.
Who knows..maybe we have some future chefs!

BIRTHDAY SURPRISE

It has been pretty eventful around here lately.
I have a ton of stuff to catch up on, but for today--

We introduce to you Grant Theodore!
He was born on Sunday, 11/16..which also happens to be Jared's birthday!!

Birthday boys!

More to come soon.

THROWING IN THE TOWEL

Yesterday, we threw in the towel.

We called it quits on our History Curriculum.

I put it to a vote and everyone agreed.

I am disappointed, having spent money and time on this, but it just is not working well for us.
It has been consistently the last thing that we get to and the first thing we skip if we run out of time for the day.

It is the same company we used last year, and really enjoyed--however
this year I just find it to be boring and drudgerous.
And I enjoy History!

So, we're done.

I do have say it was definitely Geography as compared to History.
Of course, we're not done with history or geography--just this particular curriculum this time around.
I have plenty of other resources that we will use.  I will probably use some of the books that were included with this curriculum, but not as a whole.

Just thought I would share this little tidbit about our homeschooling journey.

What is new with you?

LEGO CLUB

Lego Club is new to us this year.
The library has a day once a month to get together and build!
We had other commitments last year on Lego Club days, but it has been working out so far this school year!

By the way, if you couldn't tell, these pictures are from two different sessions.

WELL, HELLO THERE!

This was from a week or two ago..we now have two little frogs (no tails!)
with several more on the way.  It has been pretty cool to see them grow.
