THROWING IN THE TOWEL

Yesterday, we threw in the towel.

We called it quits on our History Curriculum.

I put it to a vote and everyone agreed.

I am disappointed, having spent money and time on this, but it just is not working well for us.
It has been consistently the last thing that we get to and the first thing we skip if we run out of time for the day.

It is the same company we used last year, and really enjoyed--however
this year I just find it to be boring and drudgerous.
And I enjoy History!

So, we're done.

I do have say it was definitely Geography as compared to History.
Of course, we're not done with history or geography--just this particular curriculum this time around.
I have plenty of other resources that we will use.  I will probably use some of the books that were included with this curriculum, but not as a whole.

Just thought I would share this little tidbit about our homeschooling journey.

What is new with you?

LEGO CLUB

Lego Club is new to us this year.
The library has a day once a month to get together and build!
We had other commitments last year on Lego Club days, but it has been working out so far this school year!

By the way, if you couldn't tell, these pictures are from two different sessions.

This was from a week or two ago..we now have two little frogs (no tails!)
with several more on the way.  It has been pretty cool to see them grow.

METAMORPHOSIS

About a month ago, a friend ended up with thousands of Australian Tree Frog tadpoles.
We were asked if we wanted any.
Why not?  Right?
So, we took a few.

They were so tiny, really rather impossible to take a picture of.
They were probably the size of this "o" or thereabout.
They also did not stay still for any extended period of time.
This is about the best I could do:

Fast forward a couple of weeks and...
We have legs!!

This is the biggest of the bunch,
probably about as big as the pad of my ring finger..or a bit smaller.
We have not named them yet.  I thought it wise to wait until they all change into frogs and we see how many are left.  The difference in size between some of them is significant and some have "mysteriously" disappeared..er..been cannibalized we fear.

We will keep you posted.

9

Yesterday, nine years ago, we said our vows.
Actually we responded to our vows--"yes, yes, I do."
I think if we were to go back and re-do that is one of the things I would change.
Anyway, that doesn't change anything, now does it?

Nine years.
The old folks say we're still newlyweds.
In the grand scheme of things, that would be true.
However, it is not always easy to keep that mindset especially with so many little feet running around, not to mention the cares of day to day life.

We rarely get out alone or do those things that "people" say you have to do to maintain a healthy relationship..

but you know what?

Love is a choice.

And I choose you.

Happy Anniversary!

By the way, this picture is NOT from our wedding day.

HOW DO YOU KNOW IT IS FALL?

Apples, apples and more apples!!

We went apple picking 2 weeks ago at a local farm.

Here are a few pictures:

The trees were really pretty much picked clean where the kids could reach,
so pickers were necessary.

The crew.

What is your favorite thing about Fall?
